The TP 160 is a nine-inch radial tonearm in the medium weight class, designed by Helmut Thiele. Its vertical movement rides in a newly developed knife-edge bearing in which a hardened steel edge meets a two-part bearing shell, held precisely centred by contactless magnetic lateral guidance; horizontal movement uses high-quality Japanese ball bearings. VTA adjusts via a lockable fine thread, skating force via a calibrated spring mechanism, and the solid aluminium headshell mounts on a standard SME bayonet, accepting alternatives up to integrated cartridges such as the Ortofon SPU.
