Most audio is background. It fills a room while something else happens in it. I built Sound Sanctuary around the opposite idea — Music in the Foreground. Sound so engaging, it can't be ignored.

Almost everything about buying audio works against actually hearing it. Show floors are loud, and speakers get lined up twelve to a wall so that none of them are set up correctly and none of them are given a chance. We do it the other way around. Systems here are assembled, positioned, and matched the way they would be in your home, in rooms built for the purpose and hung with art, with somewhere comfortable to sit.

When you visit, bring the music you know best — not the demonstration disc, but the record you have heard a thousand times, because that is the only one that will tell you anything. You are not listening for detail or bass. You are listening for the moment you forget to listen critically and just follow the music.

Austin takes making music seriously. It ought to have somewhere to hear it played back properly.

Take as long as you like. We always welcome appointments outside normal hours, and there is no version of this where you are hurried.
