Dr. Feickert Analogue is the turntable company of Dr. Christian Feickert, who builds his record players, tonearms and electronics from a workshop in March-Buchheim, in the south-west of Germany. The house style is easy to state and hard to execute: neutrality above all, reached through solid, conventional engineering rather than exotic materials. Feickert has a phrase for what he leaves out — no "voodoo" — and the range is the better for the discipline.
The turntables share a family logic. Each runs a belt drive with one, two or three motors, and each carries a sliding armboard marked with a pivot-to-spindle scale, so a tonearm can be changed and set in minutes rather than an afternoon. The line runs from the compact Volare, through the Woodpecker and the dual-arm Blackbird, to the three-motor Virgo SE and the Firebird, which the company calls its reference. Alongside the decks sit Feickert's own Straight-10 and Straight-12 gimbal tonearms and the Vero S phono stage.
Feickert is also known among analog enthusiasts for its measurement and setup tools — the mark of a company that treats turntable alignment as something to be measured rather than guessed.
