Vibration is the part of system performance that is easiest to ignore and hardest to argue with once it is addressed. Harmonic Resolution Systems has worked on nothing else since 1999. Michael Latvis founded the company after a career in vibration, noise, and control engineering that included isolation work for aircraft and defense systems, and he remains its chief engineer. The company holds six issued patents.

The engineering is in the materials and how they are layered. An M3X2 isolation base is built from more than seventy parts and six different materials — two of them proprietary polymers — with a billet-machined aircraft aluminum housing and a polished black granite contact surface, all inside a three-inch profile. Four proprietary materials appear in each base, two within the frame and two in the footer assembly, so a base can be configured for the component sitting on it: broadband isolation, narrowband, constrained-layer damping, or a grounded design.

The system is modular by intent. Bases drop into the stand frames, so a rack can be specified once and tuned afterward, component by component. Stands run from the VXR reference through the SXR line to the EXR, with isolation bases from the M3X2 down to the E1X, and separate chassis products — the Damping Plate, Nimbus, the patented Vortex, and Helix — for equipment already in place. Everything is made in the United States and inspected by hand.
