The TD 1601 TP 160 continues one of Thorens' most iconic series, suspending its subchassis on three conical springs to isolate platter and tonearm from the outside world. The J-shaped 9-inch TP 160 tonearm by Helmut Thiele uses a magnetically stabilised knife-edge bearing and an SME-type headshell connector. An electronically controlled synchronous motor is fed 2 x 16 V by the external TPN 1600 linear power supply with toroidal transformer, and a patented electric lift and contactless auto-stop round out the everyday usability. True balanced XLR outputs serve moving coil cartridges with an interference-free signal path.
