The MC 1600 is Thorens' top-of-the-range symmetrical phono preamplifier, designed for both moving coil and moving magnet cartridges and made in Germany. Each channel runs its own fully symmetrical amplifier section built with precision resistors, high-quality film capacitors and low-noise operational amplifiers. Gain, impedance, capacitance and the subsonic filter adjust per channel via finely detented DIP switches, a separately shielded power supply section keeps the signal path silent, and connectivity spans balanced XLR and RCA inputs and outputs.
