The LS-3 is a solid-state preamplifier from Audio Research's dedicated solid-state engineering team, externally identical to the LS-2 yet built on a fully balanced differential JFET input stage, a bipolar-transistor voltage amplifier and Class-A output stages. The signal path is fully dual-mono, with separate power transformers per channel, a zero-gain cascaded voltage reference and linear power supplies for low noise and outstanding dynamics. The all-aluminum chassis is shared with the LS-2, and a touch-screen display carries the font of the Reference GhostMeters for a cohesive look.
