The D-80 revives the prefix worn by the legendary Audio Research amplifiers that established the high-performance amplifier market. Its foundation is taken directly from the Reference 80S: a pair of KT150 output tubes per channel in a fully balanced differential signal path, operating in full pentode mode. Auto-bias adjusts the output tubes continuously in real time for line voltage and tube age, and the amplifier offers balanced XLR inputs with 4, 8 and 16 ohm taps. Every unit is built in Minnesota, tested twice and individually auditioned in the company's reference system.
