The MCD85 brings SACD and CD playback to the open-chassis design family shared with the MA252, C8 and MC830. A Quad Balanced 8-channel 32-bit/192kHz DAC assigns four channels to each audio channel, and the player also reads homemade CD and DVD data discs in formats up to DSD128 and 24-bit/192kHz WAV. A USB audio input supporting up to DSD256 and coax and optical inputs let it serve as an external DAC.
