The Model 60 is the most technically advanced turntable SME has ever made, an entirely new flagship design introduced sixty years after the company entered high-end audio. It combines a hydraulically damped main bearing, an intelligent suspension system with horizontal and vertical control, de-coupled adjustable feet with multipoint isolation and an acoustically treated chassis, sub-chassis and platter. Drive comes from a custom bi-phase AC synchronous motor governed by a dedicated DSP speed control unit, and the deck is fitted with the Series VA tonearm, CNC machined from a high-density polymer resin for an acoustically inert, low-resonance arm tube.
