The 505 is Moonriver Audio's hybrid phono stage, combining low-noise IC op-amps with discrete solid-state circuits in a dual-mono layout fed by six separate power supplies totalling 70,000 uF of capacitance. Four inputs accommodate multiple turntables, tonearms and cartridges, and every adjustment (twelve gain settings from 34 to 72 dB, MM capacitance, MC and MM loading, and RIAA or Decca/Columbia 78 rpm equalisation) is made on the fly with dedicated knobs and switches. A microcontroller silently stores the chosen settings for each input and recalls them automatically, and the passive de-emphasis EQ is built from very low tolerance components. Designed and hand-assembled in Sweden, it wears the house style of oversized aluminium knobs and solid walnut cheeks.
