The MA252 was the first hybrid integrated amplifier from McIntosh, taking retro design cues from the MC275 while combining a vacuum tube preamplifier stage of two 12AX7A and two 12AT7 tubes with a direct coupled solid state output. It produces 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms or 160 watts into 4 ohms. Four analog inputs include a moving magnet phono stage, with bass and treble controls and a mono subwoofer output.
